LYME REGIS

Justly called The Pearl of Dorset, Lyme Regis is situated on the South Coast of England in the centre of the expanse of coast between Start Point and Portland Bill known as Lyme Bay. The ancient harbour – the Cobb – has for many centuries provided seafarers with a safe haven, while in the Town generations of visitors from all over the globe have received a warm welcome.

Lyme Regis, surrounded as it is by rolling countryside tumbling down to the sea, is set in the midst of some of the most beautiful scenery to be found in Britain. Ever since Lyme was first written about in 774 AD visitors have enjoyed the dramatic location, genial climate and timeless charm. Stunning views abound and a pace of life exists here that is difficult to find anywhere else at the start of the twenty-first century.

As well as the deserved designation as an area of outstanding natural beauty and designated as part of the UK's Heritage Coast the whole area is classified as a World Heritage Site. Lyme Regis is world famous for the abundance of fossils that are to be found freely along the shores and cliffs and its position makes it an ideal centre for water activities of all sorts. Indeed the sea is at the very heart of Lyme's existence. The entire area offers a variety of history, geology, beaches and sunshine that are second to none providing a stimulating and dynamic background for students to achieve new heights of personal excellence.
